City council recognizes African-Americans’ achievements

In observance of Black History Month, established in 1976 to honor African-Americans’ contributions to the nation, the Monticello City Council last week issued several proclamations recognizing local individuals who have excelled in their respective fields.
Mayor Gloria Cox had City Clerk Kathy Radford read the proclamations, which honored six individuals with local ties who have made positive contributions in their chosen fields.
Those named were Attorney Amber Hall, a personal injury lawyer in Tallahassee; Attorney Emily Howell, an assistant state attorney in Orlando; and Attorney Farnita Saunders Hill, who specializes in employment and civil righ
