City, county officials pleased with hurricane response

City and county officials alike last week took time to recognize the men, women, and children who, from either a sense of duty or empathy, stepped forward in the aftermath of Hurricane Idalia to help the less fortunate in the community.
Both the Monticello City Council and Jefferson County Commission took a few minutes at their respective meetings on Tuesday, Sept. 5, and Thursday, Sept. 7, to acknowledge the efforts of the many who helped the community weather the storm and its aftereffects.
Among those praised at the Monticello City Council were City Manager Seth Lawless, Public Works Director John Atkinson, Police Chief Fred Mosley, Captain Jack Pi
