City officials get heads-up on coming anti-DEI law

With Senate Bill 1134 about to take effect on Jan. 1, Monticello officials are being reminded of the measure’s prohibitions against diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). SB-1134, which Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law on April 22, 2026, prohibits local governments from funding, promoting or implementing DEI endeavors. It further requires that contractors and grant recipients certify that public funds given to them will not be used for such endeavors. SB
