City raises rates for water, sewer and garbage services (Implements new fee for stormwater maintenance)

After the required two public hearings and limited comments from citizens, the Monticello City Council recently approved four measures that together increase the rates for the sewer, water and garbage collection services, as well as set a new fee for stormwater maintenance.
The council approved the four measures in short order on Tuesday evening, Dec. 3, making the increases effective retroactively to Nov. 1.
The first measure, Ordinance 2024-1, sets the base rate for sewer service inside the city at $22.84 monthly, with an additional charge of $7.65 per 100 cubic feet of water used. And it sets the basic sewer rate outside the city at $28.55, with an
