City to tackle stormwater infiltration problem

Now that city officials have been able to identify the cause of the stormwater intrusion problem affecting the sewer system near the Crooked Creek Subdivision, the next step will be the costly one of correcting the problem.
At the Monticello City Council meeting on Tuesday evening, Dec. 5, City Manager Seth Lawless asked for authorization to spend $22,000 from the $377,000 in the sewer system charge reserve fund to pay for an earlier inspection of the system by Handex Consulting to determine the extent of the intrusion problem.
