If they haven’t yet received the information, city residents can soon expect to receive notices of planned rate increases for their garbage, water and sewer service rates, as well as the imposition of a new fee for stormwater maintenance.
The Monticello City Council on Tuesday evening, Sept. 3, began the process for adoption of two resolutions that aim to raise the service rates for garbage collection and disposal by 20 percent, and those of water and sewer services by 15 percent. Additionally, the council is considering adoption of an ordinance that will impose a monthly $1 fee for the upkeep of the stormwater system.
