Clear bags required across the school district

On Monday, Sept. 23, the Jefferson County School District extended its clear bag policy to include “buses, both school campuses and all school-sponsored events.” The district had previously announced via Facebook on Sept. 12 that it was implementing a clear bag procedure effective immediately “for all school athletic events, performing arts events and other large group events” as a part of its “ongoing efforts to provide safe and secure environments.” Campus Safety Magazine reported in June of this year that more schools were requiring students to carry only clear backpacks in an effort to prevent violence.
