Clemon Alexander to be honored in ceremony at JCS

A “Remembrance and Honor” Ceremony for Clemon Alexander will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 23, 2023, at Jefferson County K-12 School (JCS), located at 50 David Rd. in Monticello. The public is invited to attend. On Oct. 23, 1983, a bombing of the U. S. Marine barracks at the airport in Beirut, Lebanon, took the lives of 220 Marines, 18 U.S. Navy sailors and three U.S. Army soldiers. Among the fallen was Clemon Alexander. Born in Jefferson County on Sept. 4, 1957, he was the son of the late C.S. and Rochelle Alexander. He attended the local public schools and was on the football, basketball and track teams.
