Clerk encourages use of property fraud alert

In light of increasing property scams in Florida, Clerk of Court Cecil Trey Hightower is urging local property owners to subscribe to his office’s online property fraud alert system to prevent any potential fraudulent transfer of their properties.
“We need as many people as we can to subscribe to the alert service,” Hightower said recently, noting that as of the present, 247 people had signed up for the alerts.
For those who were hesitant because they lacked computer savviness, Hightower said his staff would help walk them through the process if they visited his office.
