On Jan. 15, 2018, tragedy struck here in Monticello. Local resident Antrevel Green, 42, was fatally shot and was found by investigating law enforcement officers. Today, law enforcement is still investigating the shooting and chasing leads.
In 2018, the Monticello Police Department (MPD) responded to a complaint of gunshots in the area of Second and Orange Streets, in the Southeast part of town, at 11:19 p.m. Deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) also responded to the scene. When the officers arrived, they spotted a black male walking down the street with non-threatening injuries. They also noticed a blood trail that led away from the area, where they found Green lying with life-threatening injuries. Fire Rescue transported both men to the hospital, where Green later died.
The case is still active, and the MPD, as mentioned, is currently chasing all leads they have. If you have any information pertaining to what happened, please contact the MPD at (850) 342-0150 or Crime Stoppers (850) 574-8577. Let's help this family find closure.
