The Jefferson County Commission meeting that was scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, July 16, has been cancelled.
The Monticello News received word late Wednesday evening of the cancellation, which resulted from “several key personnel being unable to attend the meeting due to illness.”
The brief press release didn't identify the key personnel or the nature of the illness, but as of Monday afternoon, County Coordinator was being treated at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital because of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.
Listed on the agenda for Thursday evening meeting were numerous items, including a citizen's request for the removal of the Confederate monument on the courthouse circle, the solar ordinance and the appointment of an individual to negotiate with NextEra relative to the transmission line.
The meeting has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, and will be live-streamed via Zoom.
