
Commissioners take stand against trio of anti-agriculture bills

Urged by a citizen, county officials recently sent a message to the Florida Legislature expressing their opposition to three bills that they believe stand to impact agriculture and rural counties adversely.
House Bills 579 and 1209, and Senate Bill 1118, address land use, development and development regulations to one degree or another by making it easier for developers to construct high-density enclaves in agricultural land, regardless of whatever restrictions the local comprehensive plan may impose.
