
Commissioners turn down revised animal control ordinance (Citizens express frustration with lack of enforcement)

After much discussion of the revised animal control ordinance and expressed concerns by several county residents about the problem of roaming dogs and the need for restrictions to keep them contained, officials’ opted to maintain the status quo, but with more robust enforcement of the rules.
By a 3-2 vote on Thursday evening, Nov. 6, the Jefferson County Commission rejected the proposed changes to the animal control ordinance and instead put their faith on stricter enforcement of the existing rules as the solution to the problems cited by the residents.
