Community BBQ on Saturday at the Rec Park at noon

Laura Young ECB Publishing, Inc.   A Community BBQ begins at noon on Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Rec Park (1380 Mamie Scott Dr.). This event, presented by The Community Affairs Organization, will have fun activities for kids and families, such as volleyball, bounce house, sack races and more. Everyone is invited to bring lawn chairs and tents to join the celebration. Shivonia Brantley of the Community Affairs Organization says this group is focused on “saving our children from the 'streets.'” She notes that in August the group had a Gun Violence Rally at the Rec Park, with speeches on this topic from Monticello Police Department Captain Jack Pitts, David Williams (Gator), Pastor
