Community Orchard expands

Heather Ainsley ECB Publishing, Inc. On Friday, Jan. 19, in recognition of Florida Arbor Day, a new addition was made to the Monticello Community Orchard. The orchard will now be the home of a sapling peach tree, the first of several that will be planted in the weeks to come, following a bout of freezing weather. This patch of fruit trees, located by the Monticello water tower, also includes a variety of citrus, with plans for more plants and features to be added over time. The orchard currently is tended to by a group of community volunteers.
