The Jefferson County Ministerial Association will be holding a special community worship service to commemorate National Day of Prayer at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, on the north side of the courthouse in downtown Monticello.
The National Day of Prayer has special significance for us as a nation as it enables us to recall and teach the way our founding fathers sought the wisdom of God when faced with critical decisions. It stands as a call for us to humbly come before God seeking His guidance for our leaders and His grace upon His people.
Cities and counties all over the country are holding similar services to mark this special day.
A choral group of Jefferson Homeschoolers will help open the local service singing “God Bless America.” Pastor John Hicks will offer a prayer for

our nation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Area pastors will offer specific prayers relating to life in the United States.
Included are prayers for family by Rev. Jonathan Brewster, law enforcement by Rev. Sean Vickers, education by Pastor EddieYon, churches by Rev. Jered Day, local government by Father Steve Pessah, salvation by SL Wade, and military by Dr. Bob Kuschel.
City and County officials are urged to attend this important service as is the general public.
The service will last about 45 minutes.
