Confirmed tornado touchdown in Jefferson, Madison counties

The National Weather Service (NWS) last week confirmed that a tornado touched down in Jefferson and Madison counties on the previous Friday, making it the fourth such phenomena to strike the area during a severe weather outbreak that swept across North Florida on May 10.
The other three tornadoes occurred in Leon and Gadsden counties, causing significant damage across the capital city.
The NWS report released on Thursday, May 16, stated that the category EF-1 tornado that hit Jefferson and Madison counties on Friday, May 10, lasted 31 minutes and had estimated peak winds of 100 mph. The range of an EF-1 tornado is 86 to 110 mph; that of an EF-2 is 111
