Jefferson County remained at 26 COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday evening, April 22, when the Florida Department of Health (FDOH) last updated its website.
The last two cases in Jefferson County were confirmed on Sunday, April 19, bringing to 26 the total number. The two latest cases involved two males, ages 56 and 67, according to Pam Beck, public information officer with the FDOH-Jefferson. Beck said the two men were isolated and receiving the appropriate medical care.
A breakdown of the 26 cases shows 24 are residents and two nonresidents, their ages ranging from 22 to 95. Of the 24 residents, 12 are male and 12 female. And of the total 26, 11 are white, nine are black, three are Hispanic and three are identified as other.
As of 11:45 a.m. Thursday, April 23, Florida had 28,832 confirmed cases and 960 deaths. In the United States, the numbers were 843,937 cases and 46,785 deaths. And globally, the numbers were 2,658,387 cases and 184,372 deaths.
