Cory Oliver, principal of Jefferson Somerset, has been named a winner of a 2019 Florida Charter Schools Champions Award at the recent Florida Charter School Conference in Orlando.
The school serves students in grades Kindergarten through twelfth grades.
Oliver won the Champions Award in the category of charter school leader.
The state-level award was one of 23 presented by the Florida Consortium of Public Charter Schools (FCPCS), the leading charter school membership association in the state.
For the eighth consecutive year, FCPCS received nominations in several categories, including charter school teachers, charter school leaders, charter school governing board members, and charter school preferred partners.
A new category, “Charter School Innovators,” was added in 2019.
Winners received their awards at an evening awards reception and presentation at the Florida Charter School Conference.
“The Florida Consortium of Public Charter Schools is proud to honor so many of our outstanding charter school teachers, leaders, innovators and governing board members,” said Robert Haag, FCPCS President. “They represent the very best individuals who are working as part of the Florida charter school movement.”
