County adopts pre-approved vendors’ list

In a break with the recent past, the Jefferson County Commission has okayed a pre-approved list of vendors and authorized the clerk of court to pay those named on the list prior to the board’s review and approval of the invoices to expedite the payment process.
The Jefferson County Commission took the action on Thursday morning, Jan. 9, at the request of Clerk of Court Trey Hightower.
Hightower explained that under the then existing setup, invoices were processed twice monthly, as invoices required prior board authorization before payments could be made to vendors.
