County closes Tyson Road landfill site to public

The county’s landfill site on Tyson Road is now closed to the public.
Residents are asked to take tree debris to the regular collection sites, where crews from the solid waste department will pick it up.
County Manager Shannon Metty informed the commission of the policy change recently, noting that tree debris had been piling up at the Tyson Road landfill site and it was creating a problem.
“Our tree debris has been backed up for a while, so we’re actually going to be implementing a new policy of closing the site for debris pick-up,” Metty said.
