County gets another extension on $500,000 grant for A-Building restoration

For the fourth time in nearly as many years, county officials have asked the Florida Department of State (FDOS) to extend the deadline for the use of a $500,000 grant that the state agency awarded to the county in mid 2021 for the continued restoration of the historic A-Building.
The Jefferson County Commission approved the latest amendment extending the agreement between the county and the FDOS, Division of Historical Resources, on Thursday evening, Nov. 6, at the request of County Manager Shannon Metty.
The funding, per Metty’s memo, is intended to assist with costs directly associated with the restoration and mitigation of the historic Monticello
