County reactivates grant assistance program

County officials recently approved the reactivation of a small grant assistance program that will award up to $2,000 annually to local nonprofit organizations that carry on community worthwhile projects and services.
As County Manager Shannon Metty explained it to the commission on Thursday morning, March 7, the previous long-running nonprofit small grant program had essentially turned into a handout, which was why it was finally dropped.
What her office was proposing now in conjunction with the county attorney’s office, she said, was a rework of the program to make it more effective and efficient.
