County, school district engaged in land swap

Attorneys for the county and school district have been involved in discussions to have the district transfer ownership to the county of several old high school properties that the latter has long been leasing.
“The parcels have all been surveyed and we have been working with the school board attorney to obtain the deeds and lease termination documents,” County Attorney Heather Encinosa told the Jefferson County Commission on Thursday evening, Feb. 15.
One of the properties, she said, was the building housing the tax collector’s operation, near the courthouse annex.
