County seeks to hire dedicated grants writer

After years of contracting with outside consultants to seek grants for local projects, county officials have decided to hire an inhouse person to seek such funding.
County Manager Shannon Metty presented the Jefferson County Commission with a job description for a grant writer/economic development administrator on Thursday morning, March 7, getting the board’s approval to advertise the position.
“We need a grant writer last year,” was Commissioner Austin Hosford’s comment.
The other commissioners were equally supportive of the idea.
Metty said she planned to start the new person’s salary at between $55,000 and $70,000 and adjust it accordi
