County sets up committee to hire new auditor

With the contract of the current auditor about to expire, county officials recently adopted a resolution setting up a committee to procure the services of a new auditor to conduct the annual audits of the county’s finances.
As explained to the Jefferson County Commission by County Attorney Evan Rosenthal on Thursday, May 15, Florida requires that counties establish an auditor selection committee to assist in the process of hiring an auditor to conduct the annual financial audits mandated by state law and also to perform other audit oversight functions as determined by the board.
