The County level of this year's 4-H Speech Contest has come to a close. The 4-H Speech Contest, formally known as the Tropicana 4-H Speech Contest, or just Tropicana for short, has multiple competition levels—classroom, school, county, district and state—and is split into two divisions—fourth and fifth-grade division and sixth-grade division. Due to COVID-19, this year's contest was judged virtually through YouTube. The contestants recorded themselves reciting their speeches, and the panel of judges watched the videos to
decide the winners for the county between the contestants from Jefferson Somerset, Aucilla Christian Academy (ACA) and the Jefferson County Homeschoolers.
For the fourth and fifth-grade division, the winners were, in fourth place honorable mention, Tylis Keaton, from Jefferson Somerset, with his speech "Biography of Deion Sanders," in third place, Dalton McCormick, from ACA, with his speech "Being a Big Brother," in second place, Bailey Fletcher, from ACA, with his speech "Splash Mountain, Facing My Fears" and, in first place, Larrie Cherry, from ACA, with her speech "5th Grade Girl Extinction."
In the sixth-grade division, the winners were, in fourth place honorable mention, Avery Finley, from ACA, with her speech "My Dog Gracie," in third place, Kamrynn Johnson, from ACA, with her speech "New York," in second place, Allie Dollar, a homeschooler, with her speech "The Story of R.A.A." and, in first place, Maggie Walker, a homeschooler, with her speech "North Florida Citrus."
Congratulations to the 4-H Speech Contest county winners!
