
County’s legislative goals aim at courthouse renovation, emergency shelter construction

The Jefferson County Commission recently approved its priority legislative list for the projects that it will seek to get funded by the Florida Legislature during the current session.
The list, as presented by County Manager Shannon Metty on Thursday evening, Feb. 7, and approved by commissioners, identifies two projects that together amount to nearly $7 million.
One is the continuing improvements to the historic courthouse on the circle, for which multi-year project the county is seeking $1,361,900 and that could ultimately amount to $3 million when completed. The funding is being sought from the state court system via the legislature.
