Due to the Stay-At-Home order Lesley Hersey, Community Engagement Specialist with the LSF Health Systems, announces the postponing of the Madison County Human Trafficking Workshop. The new date will be Thursday, September 24. In an effort to make things as simple for you as possible, those who are already registered will not need to register again. The workshop is designed to bring information and awareness to the community to keep our children safe. It will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Madison Youth Ranch with special guest speakers. This event is free and presented by the Gateway To Fr33dom Human Trafficking Task Force.
Guests may not be visiting the Jefferson Senior Citizens Center, but the center's meal program for senior citizens continues. This program is being offered with some changes due to COVID-19, but the center says that are “committing to serving” their clients during this essential time of crisis and confusion. Any senior who is in need of a meal or food assistance is asked to contact the center's staff at (850) 408-5098 or (850) 342-0242. The staff will work to make sure seniors are well-fed during this time of social distancing.
Attending the Jefferson Somerset Book Fair is an exciting part of the school year for Jefferson Somerset students, and even though the school is closed, the book fair will still be held. This year, the May Book Fair will be held online, with book orders placed virtually, rather than on-campus. Online book fair shopping will be available for two weeks, from Friday, May 1 through Thursday, May 14 and every order will benefit the school. It is understandable that these uncertain times are stressful for everyone - especially for expecting and new moms. For this reason, MomsWell Support has partnered with therapists and peer support specialists to host five weekly free virtual support groups in both English and Spanish for expecting and new moms. On the call, moms will have the chance to talk, listen and discover coping techniques - all with the support of other moms. Join from anywhere, come as you are, babies are welcome, and the groups are free.
