Dorothy Mae Coble, age 98, of Monticello, Fla., passed away at Brynwood Health and Rehabilitation Center on Friday, May 1, 2020.
Dorothy, known as “Dot” to her friends, was born March 12, 1922, in Taylor, Texas, to Russel and Emma Krenzer. Her dad died six weeks before she was born. Dot adored her mother and they shared a love of animals and plants. They even raised a calf named “Carnation” to be a milk cow in their back yard. She lived through the Great Depression and finished high school in 1940.
After high school, she worked for the Draft Board until she married her first husband, Gerald Baumgartner. They lived in Texas as well as Bendersville, Pa., until he was killed in a car accident. The Pastor of the Lutheran Church in Bendersville introduced her to her next husband, Jacob A. Coble, who was his brother, whom she married in 1956.
They moved to start a new life in Sarasota, Fla., along with his three children Richard (Dick), Ann, and Nancy. In 1959, they welcomed Jacquelyn and in 1961, Jacob to their family. They remained in Sarasota until retiring to the Monticello area in 1992.
Dot was a loving wife and homemaker. She loved gardening, with roses being a specialty. She rescued many, many dogs, cats, birds and other animals in her lifetime, and enjoyed the horses and watching the wildlife on her property.
After her husband Jacob passed away in 2001, she continued to live with her beloved dogs and cats. Recently, a serious illness caused her to need nursing care. She resided at Brynwood Health and Rehabilitation Center for the last two years until her passing, and the family wishes to thank them for their loving care.
Dot was very devoted to her family and was very close to her son, Richard Coble (Lesley); son, Jacob A. Coble; daughter, Ann Coble; daughter, Jacquelyn Dupuis; and grandson, Jean-Pierre Dupuis. She also has a granddaughter, Sherri Coble-Miller; and great-grandson, Dylon McBride. She also leaves behind many friends and caregivers.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Oakfield Cemetery. Pastor Derrick Burrus will officiate.
