On Tuesday, Aug. 20, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO)'s Cpl. Colby Bethea conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Rabon Road and Waukeenah Highway.
The traffic stop was initiated after Cpl. Bethea witnessed a dark-colored, four-door sedan fail to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of the two roads.
After stopping the vehicle, Cpl. Bethea made
contact with the driver, who was identified as 24-year-old Breon Randall, of Monticello.
During the stop, Cpl. Bethea noted that Randall was behaving strangely and kept reaching throughout his vehicle (which is an officer safety hazard), and so Randall was asked to exit the car.
As Randall stepped out of his vehicle, the report issued by the JCSO states that he had two plastic bags in his hands – leading to a subsequent investigation of Randall's vehicle.
During the search of Randall's sedan, law enforcement officers discovered 27.7 grams of crack cocaine and recovered $5,690.
Randall was placed under arrest and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and was transported to the Jefferson County Jail where his bond was set at $5,000.
Anyone who may have information on the illegal sales and trafficking of illegal narcotics can contact the Jefferson County Drug Task Force at (850) 997-2523 or via Crime Stoppers at bbcsi.org. All tips are kept confidential.
