Duke grants $50k to five local groups

Laura Young ECB Publishing, Inc. Duke Energy presented five grant awards totaling $50,000 at the Oct. 7 member luncheon of the Monticello-Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce. Scott Mixon, who handles local public affairs for Duke, presented the awards. “One of the things I like doing the most is giving back to communities,” said Mixon. “I grew up in a small town. I grew up right down the road in Taylor County, went to high school there, and later and graduated from University of Centra
