Early medical care in Monticello

As a small, rural, agricultural town, we may not imagine Monticello had much as far as medical care in its early days. For some part, that was true—the medical care of Monticello's early days were in no way comparable to modern standards, especially during the territorial period. In 1828, the nearest doctor serving Jefferson County was Dr. Willis of Tallahassee, who often traveled to far and wide to attend to patients.
