Early voting kicks off with a bang

Early voting for the general election got underway in earnest across the state on Monday, Oct. 21, with a total of 1,137 ballots cast locally by the end of the first day, according to the Jefferson County Supervisor of Elections Office.
Of the 1,137 local ballots cast, 818 were mailed in and 519 were early votes. A breakdown of the votes along political party lines shows that 601 (44.95 percent) were cast by Democrats, 607 (45.40 percent) by Republicans, 116 (8.68 percent) by No Party Affiliation (NPA) citizens, and 13 (0.97 percent) by others.
