Rev. Andrew Creel and the Ebenezer Baptist Church family invite all friends, current and past members, and former pastors to their 191st Anniversary Celebration, a Homecoming event, to be held on Sunday, Oct. 5.
Sunday school will begin at 10 a.m., Sunday morning worship will begin at 11 a.m. and a potluck dinner on the grounds, which is always bountiful and delicious, will be served immediately afterward the service.
Accomplished local musician Rick Knowles will share his talents after the meal.
Ebenezer Baptist Church has a rich history. Established in 1828 at the Casa Bianca Plantation, Ebenezer is estimated to be the fourth oldest church in Florida.
The first Ebenezer church building burned to the ground, but a new church was built off Ebenezer Church Road in 1852, which still serves as the church sanctuary today.
The adjoining cemetery, which holds the remains of multiple generations of members and their families, including some Civil War soldiers, is a testament to the past.
The stone monument in front of the church commemorates the founding of the Florida Baptist Convention here at Ebenezer.
