Ebenezer Baptist Church will be celebrating its 194th anniversary with a homecoming on Sunday, Oct. 2, at 446 Hatchet Rd. in Lamont.
The church was founded in 1828 on what was then the Florida frontier. The original church building burned, and a new sanctuary was built on four acres of land in 1854. The church still occupies this building today and has a cemetery on the grounds.
All church members and former members, family, friends and interested people are invited to worship at 11 a.m. and attend a covered dish social afterwards. The church will provide fried chicken, breads, tea, coffee, and all are encouraged to bring side dishes, salads and desserts. There will be plenty of food and fellowship.
For more information or to sign up to bring a dish, contact Paula Carroll at (772) 530-6912.
