Education Foundation presents its 2025 awards

Laura Young ECB Publishing, Inc.  The Jefferson County Educational Foundation, Inc. (JCEF) gave a number of awards at its annual celebration event on Tuesday, April 8, recognizing several teachers and students for their excellence as well as supporters for their impactful generosity. Emcee for the evening was WTXL Multimedia Journalist Lentheus Chaney. This year's Mini-Grant Teacher of the Year was Vickie McWilliams. Her funding from JCEF was used for the project “Readers are Leaders,” which addressed improving reading fluency and comprehension skills. Her award included a new laptop and a check for $1,000. “Through this grant, I was able to purchase Accelerated Reader boo
