Eleanor Margaret McCutcheon, 94, went to her Heavenly home, quietly and without pain on May 9, 2021.
She was born July 5, 1926, the oldest child of James and Evelyn Canning of Detroit, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Jack, and her younger sister, Loretta Moynihan.
She is survived by her daughter and caregiver, Patty Fowles. granddaughters Hallie Fowles (Denver) and Stacy Phillips, and Great grandson Brendan Phillips (Denver). Eleanor is also the proud aunt to nine nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
Eleanor worked as an Executive Secretary to Presidents and CEO’s of many leading Detroit based company’s (Paramount Pictures, A & P Tea Co., Universal Airlines and Awrey Bakery) during the mid 1940’s thru mid 1980’s.
She and husband Jack relocated to Tallahassee, Fla. in the mid 1980’s, where she was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church until relocating to Monticello in 1990. Ellie was an active golfer and league member at Hilaman GC. After moving to Monticello she and Jack joined Jefferson CG and enjoyed the sport for many years. While in Monticello she joined St. Margaret’s Catholic Church and for many years helped as parish secretary. Eleanor will be remembered by her friends as a great listener, voracious reader and someone possessing a sharp wit!
A Eucharist Celebration of Life will be held at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church at a time to be announced. Burial will be at the National Cemetery in Tallahassee, Fla. with her beloved husband.
Remembrances may be made in her memory to Big Bend Hospice or St. Margaret’s Catholic Church. Beggs Funeral Home, Monticello, Fla. will handle arrangements.
