In case anyone has missed the news, notwithstanding the relentless barrage of political advertisements and news reporting, Election Day is on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
This reminder is particularly aimed at the 5,410 remaining registered local voters who had not cast a ballot as of early Thursday morning, Oct. 29.
Indeed, according to the Jefferson County Elections Office’s website, 4,819 of the county’s 10, 229 registered voters had already voted by the close of business on Wednesday evening, either through mail-in ballot or by early vote. Which translated into a 47.11–percent turnout, the elections office posted.
Voters, of course, still have today, Friday and Saturday to early vote, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day at the elections office at 1175 W. Washington St.
They can also return their mail-in ballot to the elections office in person or by putting it in the drop box outside the office until Tuesday. The Post Office advises that voters not send their absentee ballots through the mail at this late point in the game.
Voters, of course, will also have all day Tuesday to cast their votes, with the precincts set to open at 7 a.m. and remain open until 7 p.m.
