“Raven Wilcoxson is committed to educating her students inside and outside the classroom,” says Jefferson Somerset, in regards to the teacher who has been selected as this year's Elementary Teacher of the Year for Jefferson County.
This is Wilcoxson's fifth year of teaching and her expertise in providing a sound education for her students has been duly recognized by the school administration at Jefferson Somerset.
With her B.S. in Elementary Education, which she obtained from the Wichita State University in 2014, Wilcoxson seeks to change the lives of her students.
Both inside and outside the classroom, “Ms. Wilcoxson” strongly believes that teachers have the ability to impact and change the lives of their students. She herself was inspired at a young age by an elementary teacher of her own – a third grade teacher in Wilcoxson's childhood inspired her to further her education and eventually become a teacher herself. Today, Wilcoxson passes this encouragement on to her own students.
Every day, Wilcoxson lives by and exemplifies her motto of: "kids don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care.”
