Engineers provide updates on road improvement projects

Motorists traveling the Waukeenah Highway are likely to encounter delays and detours now that resurfacing and widening work has gotten underway.
Jack Husband, of Southern Consulting Engineers, Inc., recently informed the Jefferson County Commission of the startup of the roadwork, saying that it was progressing well.
“We're boxing out the shoulders with limerock and clay materials for the actual widening,” Husband said on Thursday evening, Oct. 17, adding that the permit from the Army Corps of Engineers was still pending at that time.
