Exercising Freedoms
The other day, I was engaged in a discussion with someone I know about the concept of freedom. He brought up a case where a woman repeatedly told her boyfriend to commit suicide, and he successfully killed himself, which upon investigation landed her in jail. The person that I discussed this with argued that this was unconstitutional, as the woman has “freedom of speech,” and the guy was the one “stupid enough to listen to her and actually kill himself.” It was his opinion that she shouldn't have gotten in trouble for what her boyfriend chose to do.
I disagreed, and countered that while she has “the right” to say anything she wants, there are repercussions for the things we say
