Few holdouts holding back paving project

Local officials are ready to expend $3.5 million in hurricane-related funding that the county received for the paving of private dirt roads. Holding up the project, however, is a lack of consent from a few of the property owners along the dirt roads that have been designated for paving.
County Manager Shannon Metty informed the Jefferson County Commission on Thursday morning, Dec. 5, that staff was ready to put out the solicitation of bids for the paving project, preparatory to the start of construction.
She reminded the commissioners, however, that with the exception of Aucilla Shores, which has a standing agreement with the county, only one other of
