The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) held a Fields of Faith event on Wednesday evening, Nov. 30, at Aucilla Christian Academy. Fields of Faith is an outreach ministry of FCA nationwide in which students lead a program of prayer and testimony to bring their community together. For Jefferson County's Fields of Faith event, more than 200 people gathered in ACA's Wilmer Bassett gymnasium.
Food was served at 6 p.m., followed by the program, which included a game, students sharing testimonies and Scripture, and a powerful skit.
The youth spoke about being comforted and guided through loneliness toward belonging, through anxiety toward peace, through doubts toward faith, through mistakes toward forgiveness and through rebellion toward obedience. They testified about having a reverent heart within God's plan and making a commitment to a power greater than themselves. Students who shared testimonies included Liv Nickas, Tay Young and Lena Kimmell. Students who shared favorite Scriptures included Haylie McLeod, Desiree Young, Laney Cruce, Gabe Gamalero, Kaitee Roberts, Lauchlin Faglie, Brewster Bass, Jace Grant, Amelia Lovett and Kaedin Fisher.
Midway through the program, the gym went dark as the stage was set for an inspirational skit.
Musical audio filled the shadows first. As the lights came up, choreographed action dramatized the scene of a teen being pulled in different directions by peers representing different sins under the influence of a devilish figure. With a flash of light, a white-robed student representing the power of God approached the group. The struggling teen was released from symbolic chains and shown to find peace in God. Students participating in the skit included Macy Reagan, Gabe Gamalero, Jace Grant, Kaitee Roberts, Lucy Williams, Caroline Taylor, Haylie Mcleod, Ben Faglie, Caine Demott, Bradynn Johnson, Laney Cruce, Amelia Lovett, Jacob Flynt, Madison Rudd and Destiny Kimmell.
The program ended with a call for those in attendance to make or renew their commitment to Christ.
“How amazing it was to see young people sharing about the importance of putting God first in our lives, being doers of the Word, not hearers only, and how God is always with us, through good times and bad,” said Tonya Roberts, the sponsor for Fellowship of Christian Athletes at ACA. “All in attendance were encouraged to get into God’s Word to know Him better. God is moving in a mighty way, and we are excited about His continued work in our school and in our community!”
ACA Bible Teacher Daryl Adams, who was emcee for the event, said, “Our FCA event is a special time in which our students have the opportunity to share their favorite scripture verses or their personal testimony of Christianity. It is well received by these students’ peers but also from local churches who have moved their Wednesday night services to partake in the program. Young and old hear how the Lord Jesus has moved in the lives of these young people.”
A live recording of the program can be viewed on ACA's Facebook page.
