Fire consumes semi truck
On Thursday, Aug. 15, the Jefferson County Fire Rescue responded to an emergency call about a semi-truck that was engulfed in flames. At approximately 7:30 a.m., local officials responded to the fire, which had consumed a freight trailer that had been traveling eastbound on I-10 near exit 225, just west of the exit, causing a temporary traffic lane closure of one eastbound lane. According to the fire report, the flames started in the engine area of the truck, near the running gear and wheel area, and was determined to be caused by equipment failure.
