Beth Page Missionary Baptist Church, along with the First Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Association, held a food giveaway on Saturday, May 1 at the Howard Middle School location, in Monticello. The event got off to a slow start but by noon all the food products had been given away. The line of vehicles was long, but everyone was served. Several volunteers were on-hand to help with the distribution.
“What we're trying to do is to bring the First Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Association to the community,” says Rev. Issac Manning, moderator for nine districts of the First Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Association and Beth Page Missionary Baptist Church pastor. He is also 2nd vice president of the Florida General Convention. “We want to make this a blessing to non-profits,” he goes on to say. “We also made a presentation and financial contribution this morning to the Jefferson Senior Citizens Center (JSCC.) The First Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Association has partnered with the JSCC to help with its needs from this day forward.”
Pastor Manning is hoping to make this community food giveaway a monthly event. Announcements with dates and times will be made through the Monticello News, its website and through word of mouth.
