Jefferson Somerset's students returned to school on Monday, August 13.
The halls, which had been quiet throughout the summer, were filled with the students, teachers, school administration and staff at Jefferson Somerset.
Beginning their school year, two School Resource Deputies stood by the school's gate to greet the teachers and students returning to the school.
In addition to the two deputies, Somerset has also outsourced their in-school security to DSI Security Services, meaning that parents, students, and school staff can feel safe on campus while surrounded by trained and uniformed security staff who are dedicated to protecting the school.
Last year, Jefferson Somerset made great academic gains in bringing the high/middle school to a B grade and the elementary school to a C grade, but the staff and teachers at the school aren't planning to rest on those laurels; instead, they are preparing to rise to the challenge, achieve greater gains, and ensure that every child enrolled at Jefferson Somerset receives the best possible education.
Welcome back to school, Jefferson County!
