On the first Monday of each month, a Community Dinner Church is held at 6 p.m. in the Family Worship Center of the First Methodist Church, located at 625 W. Walnut St. A Dinner Church provides an opportunity for Community Members to spend about an hour together enjoying a warm meal, music, prayer and fellowship. There is no charge, and no reservation is needed.
“A dinner church aims to build community and foster connection through a shared meal, where people can gather and engage in conversation in a relaxed setting,” says a church spokesperson. “It is a way to welcome and connect with others, particularly those who might feel less comfortable in a traditional church environment or who cannot attend a service on Sunday. It is a casual approach to worship centered around the act of eating together.”
