Florida bans purchases of junk food by SNAP recipients

Beginning in April of this year, Florida will no longer allow subscribers of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to use their electronic benefit transfer cards to buy items that are classified as junk food.
SNAP, which is administered by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service, is the nation’s largest anti-hunger program, providing food benefits to low-income individuals and families across the country. Formerly known as food stamps, benefits
