From its humble beginnings honoring the hardworking men and women of the forestry industry, the Florida Forest Festival has grown into a massive homecoming for the entire Perry community – a time when generations reunite, visitors return and memories are made all over again beneath the tall pines.
Festival day on Saturday, Oct. 24, promises all your favorite events:
• The World’s Largest Free Fish Fry, serving thousands of plates of crispy fried mullet and hush puppies – a Perry tradition that has stood the test of time.
• The King Tree Parade, filling downtown with floats, marching bands, log trucks, beauty queens and the magic of small-town pride.
• Lumberjack shows and competitions – thrilling demonstrations of skill, strength and heritage that pay tribute to our forestry roots.
• Live entertainment all day long, featuring local and regional acts that keep the crowd singing and dancing.
• Hundreds of craft vendors and food trucks, offering everything from handmade art to festival favorites.
• Carnival rides, dids’ activities and more, making it the perfect family weekend.
This year’s theme – “Celebrating 250 Years of Our Roots!” – reflects not just the event itself, but the history, strength and resilience of the Taylor County community. The Florida Forest Festival stands as a living symbol of endurance, pride and southern hospitality.
So mark your calendar, gather your friends and family, and join us under the pines for this milestone celebration. Because here in Taylor County, the Florida Forest Festival isn’t just an event – it’s a homecoming.
